Full-Time Floating LPNs or RNs for Local Public Schools' Clinics

Gateway is searching for 7 Full-Time LPN’s or RN’s to offer 3-6 month contracts to in order to fulfill their needs. The perfect candidates are nurses who are compassionate, flexible and understanding that this position’s duties may change from day to day. These 7 nurses will be essentially the float nurse pool – working to cover daily & long-term clinic vacancies, supporting PPE distribution, and supporting contact tracing efforts. You may not be working at the same school each day, and/or doing the same role each day – you will fill in wherever the needs are – however you will be guaranteed full-time hours & there will always be work to complete!

Daily hours may vary, but work days are Monday through Friday excluding holidays.

Position Requirements:

  • Full-Time Availability

  • Current Nursing License & CPR Certification

  • Vaccinated for COVID-19 (exemptions allowed on a case-by-case basis).

  • Reliable transportation (as you may need to transport PPE to various schools within the work week).

Job Duties Include (but are not limited to):

  • All work performed must align with Richmond Public Schools best practices guidelines.

  • Excellent oral, written communications, organizational and public relations skills are essential.

  • Experience with window-based computers required. Experience with Microsoft Office/Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Intranet and E-mail applications preferred.

  • Must be able to work independently and to effectively handle multiple assignments simultaneously and the ability to work efficiently under minimum on-site supervision.

  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and must be adaptable to changing priorities.

  • Work effectively with children, young adults, families, teachers and school administrators.

  • Must be physically capable and able to lift accordingly.

  • Notifies parents of students about illnesses, physical defects and potential health problems and provides health counseling.

  • Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.

  • Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters, as directed by the Coordinator of School Health Services.

  • Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.

  • Provides emergency nursing services for sick or injured students at school.

  • Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.

  • Performs mandated health screenings according to guideline established by the Virginia Department of Education.

  • Administer medications according to school board policy.

  • Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.

  • Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools and the identification and correction of safety and health hazards in schools.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the coordination of health care service delivery, related service providers, and community agencies and other resource providers.

  • Adhere to all HIPPA/FEPRA guidelines.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
